Is FunnelFlux affected by the new iOS 14 changes?

Apple's iOS 14 privacy changes raised concerns across the marketing and analytics industry. This article explains how those changes affect FunnelFlux and what to expect when working with platforms like Facebook.

Short answer: minimal impact on FunnelFlux

The iOS 14 changes mostly affect platforms like Facebook. Facebook had to change its tracking to comply with Apple's new App Tracking Transparency (ATT) policies. Any company with an app in the Apple Store must follow these rules.

FunnelFlux, however, is largely unaffected. Here is why.

We have no relationship with Apple. We are not contractually obligated to treat iOS users differently from Android users.

We do not rely on cookies or referrer data. Many iOS and browser privacy features block cookies and referrer headers, which disrupts cookie-based tracking. FunnelFlux avoids this problem entirely -- provided you use our JS snippet and follow tracking best practices.

The Facebook-specific impact

One key change involves iOS users who opt out of tracking via ATT. When a user opts out, Facebook cannot show or report that user's conversion data in its reporting interfaces.

You can still capture click data (via the FBCLID parameter) and send conversions back through Facebook's Conversions API. However, Facebook will link that conversion to the opted-out user and then drop the data from reports.

There is no workaround for this. Regardless of how you send the data, Facebook must discard it for opted-out users. That said, Facebook reportedly still uses this data for signal modeling and pixel optimization. Sending conversions remains worthwhile.

Why a tracker matters even more now

These changes make it even more important to use a tracker like FunnelFlux. It serves as an authoritative, reliable source of revenue and conversion data -- independent of any ad platform's reporting restrictions.

We are also exploring a dedicated integration and reporting UI. This would pull data from Facebook in real time and merge it with FunnelFlux data, creating an enriched reporting view for your ads. We will announce availability when it is ready.
