What counts as an event?

A funnel is made of nodes. Every time a visitor touches a node, FunnelFlux creates a hit with its own hit ID. That hit is a row in our database, and it counts as an event.

Clicks from pages also count as events, as do conversions and custom events.

So in simple terms, events are:

  • Views
  • Clicks
  • Conversion-type events

Every one of these has to be ingested and processed by our system, and every one of them becomes a row in our database.

Why billing is based on events

We charge based on the number of database rows generated. This is the fairest way to do it because views, clicks, conversions, and custom events all create system load and database storage.

We also do not currently have a data retention limit, so data retention costs are included in event overage pricing.

How event usage is calculated

We calculate event usage hourly, then add usage data to billing daily.

Usage is aggregated into units of 1,000 events. Each 1,000-event unit costs $0.01, so 1,000 of those units would be $10 -- our current overage pricing (which might I add is extremely competitive compared to any other SaaS).

Events are rounded to the nearest 1,000 per billing calculation. So if you have very low traffic, you may not create daily overage charges at all.

When overages are charged

At the start of your billing period, you prepay for your subscription for that month.

At the end of the billing period, any remaining event overages are added to the invoice.

You can see billing analytics in the Subscription and Billing section of your account. This shows your current overages, quota usage, and event counts over time.
