Set Up Your Tracking Domains

Why You Need a Custom Domain

FunnelFlux requires you to bring your own custom tracking domain. This gives you full control over your tracking links -- they look professional, build trust with your audience, and improve deliverability when sharing URLs across ad platforms and email.

You can use a root domain like domain.com or a subdomain like track.domain.com. A common pattern is to point your root domain at a landing page system and use a subdomain for tracking.

Your tracking domain does not need to be related to your page domains. However, using a subdomain of your page domain is beneficial -- browsers and extensions are less likely to block cookies and JavaScript when they come from the same parent domain.

Before You Start: Use Cloudflare for DNS

While not strictly required, we strongly recommend managing your DNS through Cloudflare. It is the fastest and most fully-featured free DNS provider available, and it simplifies several aspects of domain setup with FunnelFlux.

If you do not currently use Cloudflare, create a free account and add your domain. You will need to update your domain registrar to use the nameservers Cloudflare provides. Here are instructions for common registrars:

  • Namecheap -- select the Custom DNS option and enter your Cloudflare nameservers
  • GoDaddy -- use "Enter my own nameservers (advanced)" and enter your Cloudflare nameservers

Step 1: Add Your Domain in FunnelFlux

  1. Go to the Domains page in FunnelFlux.
  2. Click Add Domain.
  3. Enter your full domain or subdomain -- just domain.com or track.domain.com. Do not include https:// or any path.

This registers the domain on FunnelFlux's side. Next, you need to configure DNS records so the domain actually points to FunnelFlux and SSL can be provisioned.

Step 2: Add a CNAME Record

In your DNS provider, add a CNAME record pointing to:

edge.funnelflux.pro

This is the same target for every domain you add. The CNAME details are shown above the domain table in FunnelFlux and are also accessible by clicking the settings icon for any domain.

If you are using Cloudflare, you can leave the record in orange cloud (proxy) mode.

You can add this CNAME record before or after registering the domain in FunnelFlux -- order does not matter.

Step 3: Add a TXT Record for SSL Verification

FunnelFlux provisions SSL certificates for your domain through Cloudflare. To verify ownership, you need to add a TXT record.

  1. In FunnelFlux, click the settings icon for your domain.

  1. You will see a TXT record with a name and value to add.

  1. Go to your DNS provider and add a TXT record using the name and value shown.
  2. Save the record. Validation may take up to 10 minutes.

To check the status, click the settings icon for the domain in FunnelFlux -- it pulls the latest status from Cloudflare each time.

Note: If you already had an existing Cloudflare record in orange cloud (proxy) mode and are updating it to point to FunnelFlux, you may not need this TXT record at all. Cloudflare may have already verified your domain. It does not hurt to add the TXT record regardless, but if verification seems stuck, just make sure the CNAME is in place -- the domain should transition automatically.

Step 4: Verify Your Domain Is Working

On the Domains page, each domain has a status label. Refresh the page to see updates -- the status checks whether your domain is correctly pointing to FunnelFlux with SSL working.

You can also click the settings icon for a domain and use the provided validation link to test it directly.

Once the status shows as active, your domain is ready to use in tracking links.
